It would have been faster, but my friend came up to me to talk right in the middle of the work out and I had to stop to talk…plus I was on a cruise and might have been a little hung over…maybe

Then Chelsea. 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 squats on the minute for thirty minutes. Finished round 30 with 24 seconds to spare. I figure that I had about 7:40 in the first 20 sets to rest. Makes me wonder how big a number I can put up on Cindy now.

how does Dustin’s time compare with the competitors?
July 14, 2009 at 11:21 pm
2nd Anniversary forced a time constraint so I met up with an old standby – GI Jane :
100 burpee to pull-up : 10:16
Timed it so the first 50 overlapped with Dustin’s last few impressive minutes. Somehow your pain is less when you know someone else is hurting more than you!

Scott -
Good question, though tough to make a clear head-to-head comparison. Here’s what I know:
Of the 16 finalists, one didn’t attempt for unknown reasons, one pulled out mid-WOD due to an injury, and at least three didn’t finish within the 30:00 time limit. So 11 finished ahead of Dustin.
The Games competitors had already performed seven brutal WODs in the 32 hours leading up to the final WOD.
Helping to balance out some of that fatigue was the tremendous adrenaline rush of competition in front of 5,000 people.
Mikko Salo, the eventual winner of both this WOD and the entire Games, finished this in under 20:00.
Dustin would have held his own in this year’s Games. He has all of the physical ability and the mental toughness displayed by the top athletes. With a full year of technical training, he will be a force at next year’s Games.
